The Service Technician performs all activities associated with installing, servicing, and maintaining a wide range of the NSH USA’s state of the art machine tools and related equipment for the rail, aerospace, and automotive industries. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical systems.
Essential Functions:
- Diagnose and repair failures of mechanical systems restore proper operation
- Use drawings and precision measuring tools to test and troubleshoot mechanical systems such as pistons, rams, pulleys, belts, gears, lubrication systems
- Perform mechanical assembly, disassembly, and adjustments on machine tool components including spindles, slides, bearings, couplings, and drive systems
- Use electrical schematics to test and troubleshoot electrical systems including switches, PLCs, PCs, sensors, motors, and measurement devices
- Understand PLC function and troubleshoot machine I/Os (experience in PLC programming a plus)
- Use hydraulic schematics to test and troubleshoot hydraulic power systems
- Start-up and debug of newly manufactured or rebuilt machines both in NSH USA’s factory and at customer’s facility
- Testing of machines to verify calibration, accuracy, and overall operation
- Extensive travel both domestic and International is REQUIRED; travel will be about 80-90% which may include weekends
- Lifting 40 to 50 lbs. on a regular basis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (mechatronics or engineering preferred) OR 3-5 years of related experience in similar field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are REQUIRED
- Strong mechanical aptitude REQUIRED
- Ability to read and utilize technical documents REQUIRED
- Excellent time management skills REQUIRED
- Must be a self-motivated individual and be able to hit the ground running meeting the company’s and client’s needs
- Strong working knowledge of how mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic processes integrate to ensure efficient machine operation
- Experience in troubleshooting CNCs and/or PLCs a PLUS
- Customer-Oriented mentality, able to clearly communicate technical information
- Must work well with people
- Must combine professionalism and enthusiasm in approach to work
- Proficiency in MS Office suite of products
- Must possess and unrestricted Driver’s License

Salary Range: $62,000 – $87,000 (annually)
