About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically curious Chemical Process Engineer Intern to join our Manufacturing team. This internship is designed for a senior-level chemical engineering student who wants hands‑on experience in process optimization, troubleshooting, and real-world manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing chemical manufacturing processes, including reaction, separation, and purification steps.
- Support process engineers in conducting root‑cause analyses, troubleshooting equipment or process issues, and implementing corrective actions.
- Collect and analyze production data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement in yield, energy use, or throughput.
- Participate in process safety reviews and help ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Develop or update process documentation, such as SOPs, batch records, P&IDs, or process flow diagrams.
- Assist in pilot‑scale or laboratory testing to support process development and scale‑up activities.
- Work cross-functionally with Quality, R&D, Maintenance, and Operations teams on improvement initiatives.
- Present findings or project updates to engineering leadership at the end of the internship.
Qualifications
- Senior-level student pursuing a B.S. in Process Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Strong understanding of core chemical engineering principles such as thermodynamics, mass/energy balances, transport phenomena, and kinetics.
- Ability to analyze data using Excel, statistical tools, or engineering software.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing or plant environment.
Preferred Skills
- Prior internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or chemical processing.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or process optimization methodology.
- Familiarity with process instrumentation, control systems, or safety practices.
