Alumni Spotlight: Rick Kittelson

I am an Embedded Software Engineer at Raven Industries, part of CNHi.  As my daily work involves designing software for embedded platforms interfacing with many types of electrical systems, I use lots of what I learned as an undergraduate in electrical engineering every day.  On top of my academic foundation, the biggest strength I had for career development was being present whenever I had opportunities to interact with industry professionals.
I took advantage of many different forms of networking available to me on campus.

  • Attending every career fair, regardless of whether or not I already had a job lined up
  • Attending industry speaking events (IEEE, JEC, etc.)
  • Working with the industry advisory board
  • Attending and participating in Senior Design Projects/Expo

These all gave me connections with many employers and recruiters that were critical in landing my current position.  It’s cliché, but who you know really is a major key to landing the job you want.
